Industrie(s): Plastic to oil conversion - Hi-tech recycling
|
Sector: Business (for profit)
SLiQ Thermal is a South African-based company focused on advancing circular economy solutions through the conversion of non-recyclable plastic waste into valuable energy products.
Our core initiative is the development of a large-scale plastic-to-oil pyrolysis facility in the Western Cape, designed to process significant volumes of post-consumer and post-industrial plastic waste (specifically polymers #2, #4, #5, and #6) that would otherwise be landfilled or lost to the environment.
We actively contribute to circularity by:
Diverting waste from landfill and reducing environmental leakage of plastics
Creating value from low-grade, non-recyclable materials through advanced thermal conversion
Supporting local waste collection ecosystems, including engagement with material recovery facilities (MRFs), waste collectors, and informal waste pickers
Producing alternative fuels (“pyrolysis oil”) that can displace virgin fossil-derived products
Facilitating job creation and economic inclusion within the waste value chain
Our approach is built on forming partnerships across the value chain — from waste sourcing and aggregation to offtake agreements — ensuring a scalable and commercially viable circular model.
Through innovation, investment, and collaboration, SLiQ Thermal aims to play a meaningful role in accelerating South Africa’s transition to a more resource-efficient and regenerative circular economy.
