Vikāra Institute

The Vikara Institute supports systems transformation by working with market actors, local communities, and development partners to co-create inclusive, resilient, and sustainable economies. Grounded in systems thinking and adaptive learning, Vikara designs and facilitates approaches that shift practice and policy toward long-term social and environmental wellbeing.

In accelerating the circular economy, Vikara focuses on identifying and enabling business-led solutions that regenerate natural systems, reduce waste, and build more equitable value chains. This includes supporting micro and small enterprises through challenge fund mechanisms, learning partnerships, and catalytic funding models that unlock local innovation.

Vikara’s circularity work spans diverse contexts, from designing post-COVID challenge funds focused on local food systems and sustainable packaging, to supporting waste-to-energy models in rural East Africa, and scaling regenerative agriculture enterprises that restore ecosystems while improving livelihoods.

Across all efforts, Vikara works to shift market norms and investment flows toward circular and regenerative models, recognizing that transformative change is driven not only by new ideas, but by the ecosystems that support them.
