Reuse-refill models replace single-use packaging with reusable formats to deliver products to consumers. These models are recognised in global and national contexts as an important measure to address plastic pollution.
The webinar will present findings from the project SA Circular Lab (SACiLa) South African Reusable Packaging Solutions in the Plastics Value Chain, implemented by the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) and delivered by Plastics SA in collaboration with the African Circular Economy Network (ACEN) and Circular South Africa (CSA).
The session will share learnings from local case studies in low- to middle-income contexts to support the scaling of reuse-refill models in South Africa, with the goal of reducing single-use plastic packaging and retaining reusable packaging in the economy.
